Using the Whole Nut

Coconut Fibers

Coconut is known as a Superfood; we drink its milk and water, use its oil and meat, but what happens to the shells?  It’s the most commonly overlooked part of the coconut.

Sometimes the shells are turned into bras for Halloween costumes.  If cleaned well, they can be used as storage bowls in the bathroom or for small jewelry.   You could even use them as summer time table decorations.  If you put your mind to it, its uses are endless- all it takes is a little creativity.

But Manduka went a step further.  For those of us who tend to sweat during practice, a yoga towel is essential.  It keeps our hands and feet from slipping, and allows us to focus more clearly on the pose, rather than worrying if we are about to take a tumble.

Manduka’s eQua Plus Mat Towel is made from all natural COCONOA® fibers extracted from recycled coconut shells.  Instead of sending the empty husks off to the landfull, Manduka developed a patented process, where the shells are converted into carbon particles that are then infused into the microfiber of the towel for optimal moisture and odor management.

The towel comes in three vibrant colors, is durable, long lasting and, like the coconut itself, can be used a variety of ways.  Lay it on top of your yoga mat for a slip-free practice.  Use it at the end of practice to get a little height under your seat during mediation or to cover yourself during Savasana.  Take it on your next trip to the gym.   Wash it and repurpose as much as you like!

It’s recycled, eco-friendly, and is a great reminder that when the tools we use during our yoga practice reflect the Earth-first motto of our day-to-day choices, we feel a true transformation.

So, grab some coconut water, unroll your Manduka Yoga Towel made with recycled coconut fiber, and replenish your body and your mind simultaneously.
